TNS Commits to American Dial Market with Dual Diverse Network

August 16th, 2016

Transaction Network Services (TNS) has launched a dual diverse network for its dial payments traffic, giving acquirers full redundancy and fail over capabilities through one supplier relationship.

The service, which is now live across the US and Canada, provides two different and distinct networks to carry dial payment transactions and utilizes multiple telecommunications firms.

Lisa Shipley, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of TNS’ Payment Network Solutions, said: “We’re delighted to be offering this service to acquirers across the US and Canada. Deploying alternative traffic across multiple routes provides vital resiliency and helps to ensure stability and continuity of service for consumers, but until now acquirers had to use different providers to meet this need. Today we’re proud to be the first to offer this service under one roof.

“At a time when investment in dial services is falling, TNS is committed to ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of the industry. Our customers communicated their trust in TNS, but still required a secondary network. By using our dual diverse network we can help acquirers simplify their payments infrastructure and enjoy the benefits of working with just one supplier, while being confident that their dial traffic can be routed quickly and easily to another telecommunications provider if needed.”

TNS’ dual diverse network has been designed to ensure failover between telecommunication providers in the event of an outage or service break. Acquirers can also choose to spread their traffic between multiple providers if they wish.

By using a single supplier, acquirers have easier access to reports on important information, such as dial traffic volumes, with TNS consolidating data from across the multiple networks into one location for monitoring and analysis.

TNS’ dial service was first introduced in 1990 and now handles billions of payment transactions each year globally. It offers high availability with advanced node and circuit redundancy, back-up and flexible routing capabilities. It supports all known point-of-sale protocols and can deliver all types of transaction traffic, including credit and debit cards, pre-paid, mobile top-ups, gaming, alarms, inventory control, order entry and other transaction-oriented applications.

Transaction times on TNS’ networks are shorter than general purpose network service providers, making TNS more cost effective. This increased speed reduces acquiring host port holding times, improving the efficiency of the system further.

With access to over 400 payments-specific endpoints globally, including major card schemes, acquirers, processors and banks, TNS can provide near real-time visibility, monitoring and reporting via TNSOnline. The company is a Level 1 PCI DSS certified service provider, and its secure network is supported 24x7x365 by TNS’ Network Operating Centers around the world.

With a strong payments heritage and more than 25 years of expertise, TNS now provides services in more than 60 countries across Europe, the Americas and the Asia Pacific region.
