Protecting your personal data
Transaction Network Services and its operating Group of companies (TNS Group) are committed to protecting any personal data that we have collected from you and respecting your privacy. As we want you to be confident that your personal data is safe and processed in accordance with your consent, we have adopted this Privacy Statement to let you know:
- how and the purpose for collecting personal data;
- what we do with it;
- the reasons for sharing personal date with other companies;
- period how long we’ll keep it for; and
- the rights and choices you have with regards to your personal data.

How and the purpose for collecting personal data
You may give us personal data about you when you are contacting us by phone, email or otherwise. Such collection of personal data may include:
- personal data that you provide by filling in forms on our site at www.tnsi.com (our site).
- personal data when you contact us about products and services that we provide and/or problems with such products/services;
- personal data that we collect when you contact or otherwise engage with us;
- personal data that we collect when you complete any survey that we use for research and quality control purposes (subject to the caveat that you don’t need to respond to such surveys); and
- information when you visit our site including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data, whether this is required for our own purposes or otherwise and the resources that you access.
- take part in discussion boards or other forms of social media;
- personal data that you provide TNS Group employees at trade shows, industry forums or similar types of events.
Type of personal data that we gather about you may include:
- your name;
- address;
- email address;
- phone number; and
- any further personal data required as part of the providing products and services to you or companies that you are employed.

Contact form (on our website)
Personal data is collected through the contact form on our website to enable us to process your query and/or to provide products and services to you or your employer.
Phone calls
Personal data may be collected when you call us. The data is used to process your query and/or to provide products and services to you/your employer.
We’ll hold details of the call for audit and administration purposes and to enable us to facilitate the contractual relationship that we have with your company.
Information obtained automatically by using our website and our website tools like cookies
This website uses cookies and other similar technologies to distinguish you from other website users. Where applicable, our website will collect and use the following personal data:
- your name and address; and
- any other relevant contact information (including your email address and telephone numbers);
Direct marketing
If you’ve given us your consent, we may use the personal data we’ve collected about you to send information about products and services of TNS or other members of the TNS Group using various channels such as mail, phone, email and SMS.
We’ll ask for your consent when you contact us (online or otherwise) and when you complete any forms or surveys. You can remove your consent at any time by writing to or sending an email to our Data Protection Officer or updating your preferences when we contact by email or otherwise by clicking on the appropriate link.
Competitions and surveys
If you enter any competitions or surveys, TNS will capture some personal data about you. By supplying these details, you have consented to TNS contacting you if you’re the winner. Your information won’t be used for any other purpose and will be deleted once the winner has been announced, unless you’ve consented to TNS retaining this information and receiving any marketing material from TNS Group.
Security
We’re committed to ensuring your information is protected and held securely. However, the internet is not a secure medium and we can’t accept responsibility for the security of an email during transmission or for non-delivery of that email.
We’ve put security policies, rules and technical measures in place to protect the personal data that we have under our control from:
- unauthorized access;
- improper use or disclosure;
- unauthorized modification, and
- unlawful destruction or accidental loss.
All our employees and service providers who have access to personal data, are obliged to protect it and keep it confidential.
Sharing your personal data
Other TNS Group companies
As referenced in Direct Marketing section above, we may share personal data with other TNS Group companies who provide products and services that complement the existing products and services that TNS provides to you or the company that employs you. We only share the appropriate level of personal information necessary to enable that other TNS Group company to contact you about those additional products and services. If you do not wish to be contacted by other TNS Group companies, you can remove your consent at any time by writing to or sending an email to our Data Protection Officer or updating your preferences when you are contacted (by clicking on the appropriate link).
TNS Group Suppliers
We work with carefully selected suppliers that provide services and equipment and/or carry out certain functions as part of the operation of the business of TNS Group business. These include third party companies that help us with:
- technology services and equipment (including telecommunication network services and equipment and maintenance services) in relation to the TNS Group products and services; and
- any other service and equipment;
We only share the appropriate level of personal information necessary to enable our suppliers to provide the relevant services and equipment and this may require them to keep the information safe and protected at all times. Our suppliers must only act on our instructions and can’t use your personal information for their own purposes.
Additional data sharing
Other than as stated above, TNS won’t disclose your personal data to any third parties, except:
- to the extent required by law, by a government body or regulatory body;
- for crime investigation and prevention purposes;
- in connection with any actual or prospective legal proceedings;
- in order to establish or defend our legal rights;
- in the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets; or
- if a third party acquires TNS itself or a substantial part of its assets, we may disclose your personal data to that third party in connection with that acquisition
Personal data processed outside of Europe
The personal data that we collect may be transferred to, and stored at a destination outside the European Union or European Economic Area (EEA), in connection with the above purposes.
This could be to other companies within the TNS Group or to third party service providers working on our behalf. Where any such processing takes place, appropriate controls, such as the adoption of data processing agreements containing the appropriate standard EU Model clauses, are in place to ensure that your personal data is protected to the same standard as if it were in the UK or other EEA country.
Retention of personal data
In most circumstances, personal data is retained during the period that we provide products and services you or for the company you are employed by and up to seven years after such relationship ends. This is to ensure that we can comply with contractual obligations relating to the provision of those products and services and comply regulatory and legislative requirements.

TNS use cookies to:
- help understand how our websites are used on an aggregated (not individual) basis, so we can improve them for you
- provide an enhanced and more personalized user experience for you
- provide products and services that are necessary for the running of our website.

Your rights
You have a number of rights under the Data Protection laws, including:
- the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold on you. When you request this information, this is known as making a Subject Access Request (SAR). In most cases, this will be free of charge.
- the right to have personal data we hold about you transferred securely to another supplier in electronic form;
- the right to have any inaccurate personal data corrected;
- the right to have any out of date personal data deleted once there’s no business need or legal requirement for us to hold it;
- the right to object or restrict some processing, in limited circumstances and only when we don’t have legitimate grounds for processing your personal data;
- the right to object to your personal data being used to send you marketing material. As mentioned above, we’ll only send you marketing material where you’ve given us your consent to do so. You can remove your consent at any time; and
- the right to ask for a decision to be made manually, where a decision is made using automated means and this adversely impacts you.

Making a complaint
If you believe we haven’t processed your personal data in accordance with our Data Protection obligations, you can make a complaint to us by contacting our Data Protection Officer.
If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can raise a complaint with the relevant regulator in the country where TNS or the other relevant TNS Group EU company operates. For example, you can raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office as the UK’s independent authority set up to enforce the General Data Protection Regulations in the UK.
